Confirmation from Gail Barrett that lunches WILL BE supplied to the scouts and walkers at day camp this year, contrary to the information on the sign up form/flyer.

As always, if there are allergy concerns, it is best to bring a packed lunch.

Lawrence County Fair King Beaver District Promotional Site – UPDATED

King Beaver District will have an area this year at the Lawrence County Fair to help promote Boy/Cub Scouting.  It is from Aug 14 – 20, 2016.  Shifts will be Noon – 4pm and 4pm – 8pm.

We are looking to see if there are packs and troops that have extra/old patches, tshirts, etc. they would be willing to send to the fair to be a part of the trading post.

Get the word out and see what old or extra scouting items you have collecting dust as a unit and send them on over.  There will be more information to come but wanted to get the ball rolling so you can start searching.  If you have any questions / comments, please email Robert Fusco , krajax@comcast.net.

Troop Open House

From Alan Baldarelli Jr – King Beaver District Executive

Thank you for your efforts thus far and I along with our Membership Committee encourage you to keep scouting growing! Our District has been making really awesome strides in other areas however we lack growth in the Troops. This time of year is pivotal as while Cub Scouts is on people minds so should Boy Scouts. I personally recruited a number of scouts into our Troop and they were very excited to experience what Scouting has to offer. Below are the ways we will support your unit’s Open House.

The first document is the scanned copies of our New Muddy Lions BSA approved Recruitment kit. The kit has sample letters, the Troop 491 movie DVD and poster. A movie ticket is included which could be used as a Peer-to-Peer Recruitment card.

The second document is a previously designed Peer-to-Peer Card. What is a Peer-to-Peer card? It’s a recruitment tool for your current scouts to use when asking perspective scouts or friends to join the unit. The one attached is a custom design, but it can be used in conjunction with the Muddy Lions Kit or tailored to meet your needs. All the materials are provided to you and delivered.

If you prefer to host your own Open House Recruitment night, I will try to support you with the material(s) you’ll need. This is a link to the BSA Marketing Toolbox, there is a wealth of Flyers and ideas: http://www.scouting.org/Home/Marketing/Recruiting2/NationalCampaign.aspx. As a suggestion, some units host an Open House where the scouts create their own table displays with either pictures, or activities for the perspective scout to visually experience.

Please reply to me with your commitment to growing our scouting program. If I do not hear from you, a follow up phone call will be conducted to learn the growth strategy of your unit.

To begin now and host an Open House in the next few weeks, please send me:

  • The quantities of the Peer-to-Peer cards, along with your content to be included
  • Number of School Flyers
  • Or your unit’s creative efforts for a recruitment event.
